Fun Friday: The Magnolia Tree

Today for the last day of Fun Friday I'm going to be telling you about the Magnolia Tree.


The Magnolia Tree is a member of the Magnoliaceae and ranges in size from from 10-15 feet in height and great numbers of flowers.The flowers of this tree can be all sorts of colors from white to pink even a purplish color.The magnolia flower pictures you see up in the left corner are actual pictures from the tree I have in my back yard.The leaves of this tree can be dark brown,dark green,and greenish yellow.The Magnolia has been around since prehistoric times making one of the oldest living flowers.

Fun Friday: Apple Trees

Today for yesterdays Fun Friday I'm going to be telling you about Apple Tree.


The Apple Tree is a kind of fruit tree usually found in the Northern States.The tree averages in size of up to 30 feet high,sometimes 40,and the apple its self is usually 6 inches wide.All of us have heard of world records right well here's a apple world record.Did you know that the largest apple grown was grown in Japan and weighed over 4 pounds that's more than my Aunt's dog!The Apple Tree is one of the most popular trees found up in the Northern States.The flowers are a member of the rose family but for some reason the flower looks more like a Magnolia Flower although the Apple Tree became so popular because of the man who made history by traveling through the Northern States and planting apple seeds along the way and his name is Johnny Appleseed.

Fun Friday The Grapefruit Tree

Today for Yesterdays Fun Friday I'll be telling you about the Grape Fruit Tree.


This fruit is quite popular in the USA growing in Florida,Texas,California and so on.This tree is a medium sized tree measuring up to 49 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide.The fruit is yellow orange but the inside is scarlet red.Around the inside there are white lines that go through the red and around the red.It's tare but the Grape Fruit can turn into colors like pink,white,and red.The leaves are long thin,and greenish brown.

Fun Friday: The Oak Tree

Today for Fun Friday I'm going to tell you about the Oak Tree.


The Oak tree is in the family of deciduous which means it loses It's leaves every Winter.It ranges in sizes up to the size of 105 feet tall and 32 feet wide!It can be found all over the U.S.A. from Florida,where I live now,to New York,where I lived when I was little and I mean little like 3 year old little,to even the wet lands of Louisiana.This is one tree which deserves the name "Old Man" because they can live from 400 to 1,000 years old!One time when me and my Mom were going to Walmart I saw this old Oak Tree with a branch that poked out the middle going straight at first then going down till it touched the ground which made the tree look like it was holding a cane ha,ha,ha.This tree is one of the trees that I know of that produces acorns.These particular acorns can get the size of two thumbs and if they land on your head it will feel like you have been hit with a piece of hale.

Fun Friday The Maple Tree

Today for a few days ago Fun Friday I'm going to tell you about the Maple Tree.

The Maple Tree is one of the most common trees in North America.


It is a huge tree usually growing to the average size of up to 50 feet but some can get up to 70ft.They are deciduous trees meaning they loose there leaves in the fall.When the leaves of this tree falls off the leaves spin like a helicopter while falling,where coming in for a landing.The leaves of this tree are all sorts colors throughout the year.In the Spring they are a nice shade of green,in the Summer they get a brighter shade of green,in the Fall they get the colors of red,yellow,and orange,in early Winter they start to fall of and the leaves are dark brown,and in mid and late Winter the trees are bare and the leaves at the bottom are brown.Then the cycle repeats over and over again!The flowers of this tree are thin and sit up right,most other tree flowers don't do that.

Fun Friday: American Holly Tree

Today for the new Fun Friday I'll be telling you about the American Holly Tree(Well be doing trees for Fun Friday for now.).

The American Holly is the cousin of the Dahoon Holly.Averaging up to 50 feet in height it is a medium sized tree normally found in sandy,sandy,soil unlike It's cousin which is found in the swamps where all the soil there is mush.The flowers of this tree are I'm guessing purple and are found in big clumps.If you don't know what clumped is just think of a bunch of magnets attached to a stove in the same spot.The bark of this particular tree is gray almost black,rough,and rather thin.The twigs are slender,a light brown like color,and glabrous what ever that means.The leaves 2-4 inches long and are sharp!They are yellowish green on the top of the leaf however the bottem is more yellow than the top.The fruit of the tree is red with with usually one seed in it.

Fun Friday Letter W: Walrus

Today for Fun Friday I'm going to tell you about the walrus.



The walrus is a big water mammal that is brown to tan,like me,and feeds on things like soft corals,crabs,and mollusks(or clams as most people call them.).They are a member of the seal family mostly related to the manatee.It only has two main predators which are the Polar Bear and the Killer Whale A.K.A. the Orca.At a length of almost 25 feet a Killer Whale can easily kill a walrus in the water and on land!,They have been known to come up on the sand bar and grab a walrus right from under its feet.There are mainly three different kinds of walrus.The Atlantic,Pacific,and Laptev Walrus.A walrus colony can be up to 200,000 walrus that's more than the city of Tampa,a lot more.

Fun Friday The Letter V: Vampire Bats

Today for the letter V I'm going to tell you about the Vampire Bat.


The Vampire Bat is one of the only creatures on the planet from mosquito,bed bug,and even a kind of butterfly that drinks blood as its main food source.It makes it home in anything that's abandoned from wells,houses,but they normally make there home in caves.They live in Central to South America where there is plenty of farm land which is where they get there food from.They normally drink the blood of cattle,sheep, and horses very rarely humans.The vampire bat lives in huge colonies of up and maybe over 1oo individuals.There are only three different species of vampire bats in the world,the common vampire,the hairy legged vampire,and the white-winged vampire bat.The size of a vampire bat is usually 4 inches high with a wing spanned of eight inches.

Fun Friday The Letter U: Urials

Today for the letter U I'm going to tell you about the Urial a kind of Big Horn Sheep.


The Urial is one of the largest sheep in the world at a height of 35 inches at the shoulder and there horns can be up to 39 inches long the weight is not known.The description of the Urial is a rich reddish brown fur coat,very big horns,and a white line down the neck like my dog Krypto.The Urial has a rather good amount of relatives including the Mouflon.In mating season the Male will normally mate with 5 other females and at the end of five months a female will have one calve.Mating season starts in September and ends in February.The range of a Urial is in most of Asia from Iran to Kazakhstan and even to Pakistan.It's diet is grass and leaves.

Fun Friday The Letter T: Tigers

Today for Fun Friday I'm going to tell you about Tigers.The tiger is the biggest cat in the panthera genus which includes lions,jaguars,and cheetahs.



There are many species of tiger from the Sumatran,Malayan,Indochinese,Bengal,South China,and the king of tigers the Siberian Tiger at 3ft 7in at the shoulder and weighing up to 670ib.Most tigers live in Asia where they have moved in from Africa many years ago except for one which lives in Siberia Russia,the Siberian Tiger.All tiger's have two thing's in common,1 they all have stripes and 2 they all eat meat!!The diet of a tiger is relatively big prey usually wild boar and,water and majestic buffalo,moose,and even crocodiles.They also take a risk by going after baby elephant's and baby rhinos.Tigers usually hunt at night waiting in one spot for a animal to come walking along and then wap dinner is served.The female tiger usually has a litter of 6 to four year round.

Fun Friday The Letter R: Red Pandas

Today is Fun Friday, at Blogging For Fun. We are doing an A-Z meme, and are up to the letter R. R is for Red Pandas. The red panda is a small mammal no bigger than the common house cat.It is a reddish brown animal with a big bushy tail,stubby front feet and bigger back feet,and a black tummy.It is found in a some what a big part of Asia from Nepal to Tibet and so on.It likes warm,damp,and humid where it spends most of it's day sleeping,no it is not nocturnal it hunts from dusk to dawn.(If any of you can tell me what it means when they hunt in the morning and sleeps in the day and night please tell me in the comment section thank you.)The red panda is a omnivore eating basically bamboo like it's bigger cousin the giant panda but also like the giant panda it also eats meat like birds,insects, and smaller mammals.The mother red panda has a litter of 4 cubs every year each weighing about 4.6 ounces.The red pandas main threat is the snow leopard.That's my report on the red panda.The End.

Fun Friday The Letter O: Orcas

Today I'm going to tell you about the orca for Fun Friday.Orcas are the stars of the sea. Not only have they been presented in water parks all over the world(Such as Sea Worlds famous Shamu.) but they have proven there stardom in all of the worlds oceans from the poles to the tropics where I live and as a matter of fact when I was going to Cedar Key a famous beach in north Florida I saw a fin in the water.It could have been a orca or a shark but all my mom says is "You didn't see a fin" but what does she know but enough of story time on with the post.The orca is the biggest of the dolphin family with the males growing up from 19 to 26 feet and weighing up to 6 tonnes while the girls grow up from 16 to 23 feet and weigh up to only 5 tonnes and the baby's are up to 397 pounds and grow to about 8 feet.Now you know why there the biggest in the dolphin family.The killer whale is a carnivore with a big appetite eating almost every thing that swims from salmon to seals and penguins and even dangerous prey such as elephant seals,walruses,and even other whales.The orcas description is black and white and a rather large fin that grows up to 6 feet long.Mommy orcas are great at nursing their young having at least 1 offspring every year.That's my report on orcas.The End.

Fun Friday The Letter N: Narwhals

Today I'm going to tell you about the Narwhal.The narwhal is one of the medium sized whales of the Arctic Ocean and the Canadian Arctic next to the Beluga Whale.Unlike any other whale or fish the narwhal has a unicorn like horn on its face and that's what narwhal means, unicorn whale. But actually it's not a horn,it's a tooth!That's right,a big long tooth sticking out of the upper lip.Plus this tooth is no puny feller,when I said big I meant big not 3 feet long but up to 9 feet long now that would make a woolly mammoths tusk feel a little jealous.And if you thought the
tooth was big the body is even bigger!Up to 16 feet in length.The narwhal is a carnivore feeding on lots of items like wolfish,and gonatus squid.The narwhal is a whale that usually is in small groups from 10 to sometimes 15 narwhals.That's my report on the narwhal.The End.

Fun Friday The Letter M: Moose

Today I'm going to tell you about the Moose.The moose is the largest deer on the planet standing 6 to 7 feet at the shoulder and weighing 850 to 1580 pounds.The moose's description is brownish black to a rich caramel brown to a rare completely white body called an albino moose.Albino means white.In order to stay alive and remain the worlds largest dear it must eat a lot of plants which means they are indeed a herbivore and how many calories of plants a day do they need to eat you might ask?About 9,770 per day now that's a lot of plants.The moose is a very big animal so it does not have many predators except the cougar,a pack of wolves,a brown bear,and a Siberian Tiger.That's my report on the moose.The End.

Fun Friday the Letter K: Komodo Dragon

Today I'm going to teach you about the king of all lizards,the Komodo Dragon.The komodo dragon is the king of all lizards growing at 6.6 feet to 9.6 feet in length and weighing up to 150 pounds.It is a carnivore,normally feeding on dead meat or carrion but have been known to be an ambush predator and hunt its own food.But wait a minute,the komodo might be a ambush predator but it can only run up to 15mph whats its trick?,I'll tell ya its trick.In its mouth are razor sharp teeth for holding on and ripping flesh at the first bite but if it lets go it has a secret weapon,because it eats dead meat and rotting meat its mouth is full of life thretening bacteria that goes into your blood stream and causes internal bleeding,rotting of the flesh,and finally death.There food that they normally hunt is birds,amphibians,the king cobra, and big mammals like wildebeest and buffalo.That's my report on the komodo dragon.The End

fun Friday The Letter J: Jaguars

Today I'm going to tell you about the jaguar.
The jaguar is one of the biggest cats in the world coming in third after the lion and the real king of the cats the tiger.If you have ever asked somebody if the jaguar is found in South America then your answer is yes,if you asked if there only found in South America then your answer is no.They have been found in the south western states of North America as well such as south California,Arizona,New Mexico,some of Louisiana,and even most of Texas and I've herd the only reason they are in Arizona is because I think that's there breeding ground.The jaguar is a great hunter choosing which kind of predator it can be.It can either be a stalk-and-ambush predator or it can be a apex predator.Its diet is a not very picky diet eating things large and small such as frogs,deer,tapirs,dogs,foxes,birds,fish big prey like anacondas and caimans and even mice like there domestic cat cousins.As I said earlier the jaguar is found in South America,as a matter a fact it is found 98% more in South America then North America.Places such as Argentina,Belize,Bolivia,Brazil,Columbia,Costa Rica,Guatemala,Guyana, and Honduras.That's my report on the jaguar.P.S. if your wondering where I get this information try watching Animal Planet and go on Wikipedia and type what animal you want to learn about.

Dear blogging friends I've got some bad news, I'm not going to be using the letters Q,U,and X for my Fun Friday posts because I can't think of anything for them and why am I telling you know,I just like to plan ahead.

Fun Friday Letter G: Gharial Crocodiles

Today I'm going to teach you about the gharial a crocodile with a very skiny and long mouth.
The gharial has a great,great,great history back in prehistoric times.For example back in the cretaceous there was a very gharial like crocodile called rhamphosuchus.There was also a even bigger crocodile called sarchosuchus.As you know like other crocodiles the gharial is a carnivore. The usual diet for the gharial is fish,however they have been known known to go search for dead food and scare the gharial that killed it away meaning there scavengers.The gharial has basically only three major threats.Number one,they share territory with the biggest crocodile in modern day times,the saltwater crocodile.Number two, they are being killed by humans for food,they stuff them,and I believe pocketbook's, that' right,they use there skin to make pocketbook's.The gharial is found in Asia and usually spends time in deep fast streams where they hunt and live.
The way you can recognize the gharial is it has a long skinny mouth with razor like teeth,a black body with a yellow belly,and a rather very long body.That's my report on the gharial crocodile.The End.

Fun Friday Letter F: The Falcon

Today I'm going to teach you about the Falcon.
The falcon bird is among one of a trillion,I'm just kidding there's only sixty, birds of prey in the falconidae which includes eagles,hawks,and vultures.The body of the falcon is rather bullet shape which allows them to dive at up to 200 mph, that's as fast as my dodge viper in my need for speed game,available at Ebay and Game Stop.The falcon has a usual size of 6 to 25 inches,did I mention that that's a males size,the females are about 7 to 26 inches so the girls are bigger than boys that seems common for birds.The usual diet for a falcon is small mammals like rats,squirrels,and gophers.They also can eat reptiles and fish such as salmon and trout. Plus they like lizards, and small snakes. It is also one of the smallest birds of prey. That is my report on falcons.

Fun Friday The Letter D: African Wild Dogs

Today for the letter D I'm going to tell you about the African Wild Dog.
The African Wild Dog has many names besides African Wild Dog such as painted dog,painted wolf,and the painted hunting dog.
The African Wild Dog is found in different parts of Africa,such as Tanzania,Botswana,Namibia,Zimbabwe,Ruaha,and Kenya.If you look at it on a map of Africa,it sort of looks like a back words G.
African wild dogs are carnivores which means they eat meat and because they live in packs they hunt in packs too.They've been known to kill impala but they've also been known to kill dangerous prey such as giraffe calves,warthog,African buffalo,large antelope and even the one ton Eland.
African Wild Dogs are endangered in the wild because of human population and bigger predators. There use to be 500,000 left in the wild and there are now only about 5,000 left in the wild ,how sad.That's my report on the African Wild Dog.The End.
